Bone mineral densitometry is a quick and accurate
measurement of bone mass that is used to diagnose osteoporosis.
This procedure is able to identify osteoporosis and the risk
for osteoporosis at a much earlier stage than conventional
methods (i.e., x-rays). Using the bone densitometer,
physicians can measure bone density and follow it over time.
Changes in diet, exercise and/or medication can prevent
further bone deterioration.
